伊豆市では天城連山から湧き出る豊かな水源は多くの人の生活を支えています。 中伊豆地区に古くから愛されている貴僧坊水神社があります。
1673年に創建され、罔象女命（みずはのめのみこと：水と井戸の神様）が祀られています。 境内本殿北側にある石垣の下からは、清らかな湧水が多量に出ていて飲料水だけでなく稲作やわさびづくりの重要な水源となっています。
神社周辺にはわさび田が広がり、境内に近いわさび田は神社の所有でその収益により、祭が行われます。

In Izu City, the rich source of water that flows from the Amagi Mountains sustains the lives of many people. In the Nakaizu District is the long-loved Kisobosui Shrine. It was built in 1673 to
worship Mizuhanome no Mikoto (the goddess of water and wells).
A large amount of pure spring water flows from under the stone wall on the north side of the main shrine, and it is an important water source not only for drinking water but also for rice
cultivation and wasabi production.
The wasabi fields near the fence are owned by the shrine.
